Biography Bound began with grief — and with the particular, aching regret of realising too late that a story has gone unrecorded.

My father Brian was a businessman, a tour guide, a grandfather, and a natural storyteller. He was funny, full of life, and had lived a remarkable life. Not one of those stories was ever written down. In grieving him, one wish became very clear: someone should have suggested it. Someone should have helped us capture it while we still could.

Where Biography Bound Began

That wish grew into something more urgent when I began writing the memoir of my aunty — someone approaching the end of her life. Through that process, I discovered a woman I hadn't fully known. Stories I had never heard. A closeness I hadn't expected. It was one of the most meaningful things I have ever done.

Meanwhile, my mum Jenny is still here — still full of stories, still full of life — and I am determined to capture every one of them before they slip away. She is, in many ways, the heartbeat of this business.

Ultimately, Biography Bound exists because capturing a life should not be left to chance — or to later. Every family has a Brian. Every family holds stories that live only in someone's memory, quietly waiting to be written down before the moment passes. This is my way of making sure more of those stories survive.
