The Service
What Is a Personal Memoir?
Not a list of facts. Not a family tree. A proper book about a life fully lived.

A Personal Memoir is the whole story, told from the inside: what happened, what it felt like, and what it means now.

The full picture

You do not need to have been famous. You do not need to have climbed a mountain or survived a war, though you may have done both. What you need is a life, and you have one. Biography Bound's Personal Memoir service exists for exactly that reason.

Through a series of warm, guided conversations, Robynne draws out the full arc of your life: where you came from, what shaped you, the people you loved, the work you did, the places you went, the times you failed and the times you didn't, and everything in between. She then crafts it into a beautifully written book, in your voice, that will outlast you.

It is not a biography written about you from the outside. It is a memoir told from within, exactly as you experienced it, with all the warmth, wit, and honesty that implies.

What makes it different
A Personal Memoir is
Your story in your voice, not a ghostwritten corporate biography
Shaped through guided conversation, not a form you fill in alone
Professionally written, edited, and ready for printing
A collaboration between your memories and our craft
Tailored entirely to you: length, scope, tone, and depth
A Personal Memoir is not
A template you complete yourself
A factual summary or family history document
Only for people with extraordinary lives
A rushed or impersonal process
Something you need to be ready to write yourself

The Client
Who Is a Personal Memoir For?
Anyone who has ever thought: someone should write that down. This is how it gets written.
You don't need to be famous to have a story worth telling

The Biography Bound client is not defined by age, occupation, or the size of their public profile. They are defined by something quieter: the understanding that their life has mattered, and the wish to preserve it before memory softens the details or time runs out entirely.

Some come for themselves, because they want to reflect, record, and leave something lasting. Some come because a family member has finally agreed to be interviewed and the window is open. Some come because a milestone, a diagnosis, or a loss has made the urgency suddenly clear. All of them are right to come now.

The Content
What Goes Into a Personal Memoir?
Every memoir is shaped differently. These are the pillars that most lives naturally rest upon.

No two memoirs are alike. Some clients want to begin with childhood and end with grandchildren. Others are drawn to particular themes: a career, a marriage, a migration, a faith. Robynne works with each client to find the structure that serves their story best. What follows are the territories a memoir most naturally covers.

The four pillars of a life story
01
Childhood and Where You Come From

The family you were born into. The house, the street, the town. Early memories and formative experiences. The people who shaped you before you had any say in the matter.

02
Love, Marriage and Family

The relationships that defined your life. How you met the people who mattered most. Raising children, losing people, and everything love asks of us over a lifetime.

03
Work, Career and Purpose

What you built, created, or contributed. The work that occupied your days and the sense of purpose that animated it. The people you worked alongside and what you learned from them.

04
Travel, Adventure and the World

The places you went and the experiences that broadened you. Adventures large and small. The world as you found it, and how encountering it changed you.

A memoir is not a record of everything that happened. It is an honest account of what mattered, told by the only person qualified to tell it.

What the finished book looks like
📖 Length
Most Personal Memoirs run between 150 and 250 pages, though shorter and longer formats are available depending on scope and the client's wishes.
🎨 Format
Flowing prose narrative, organised into chapters. Photographs included throughout where the client has them. Clean, elegant design suited to the subject.
📦 Copies
Professionally printed and beautifully bound. You receive as many copies as you need, whether that is one for the shelf or twenty to distribute to family.
✦ The Voice
Written in your voice, not the writer's. Warm, honest, and entirely true. You review every word before anything goes to print.
04
The Process
How It Works
A gentle, unhurried process guided entirely by Robynne, from the first conversation to the finished book.
Your journey through the process
1
The First Conversation
We begin with a relaxed, no-obligation conversation. You tell Robynne a little about yourself, about the life you want to capture, and what kind of book you are hoping to hold at the end. She listens. By the end of that first call, you will both know whether this is right for you and what shape your memoir might take.
2
The Guided Interview Sessions
Over a series of warm, guided conversations, conducted in person, by phone, or via Zoom, Robynne draws the full story from you. She asks the right questions, listens carefully, and captures far more than you expect to remember. There is no script and no rushing. Diaries, letters, photographs, and documents you have kept are all welcome additions to the process.
3
The Writing
Robynne transforms what you have shared into a beautifully written narrative, told in your voice. Warm, vivid, and entirely true to the life as you lived it. Nothing is invented. Nothing is embellished. The writing reflects who you are, not who anyone else thinks you should be.
4
Review and Refinement
You read every chapter as it is written. If something does not sound like you, we change it. If something is missing, we add it. If you want to go deeper somewhere and lighter somewhere else, we adjust. The finished manuscript is entirely yours, and you have final say over every word.
5
Print, Bind and Deliver
Your memoir is professionally printed and beautifully bound. You receive however many copies you need: one for yourself, or enough to give to every branch of the family. The story that deserved to be written is now a book that can be held, kept, and passed down.

Every life holds a story worth preserving. Yours is no exception.

05
The Reason
Why a Book? Why Now?
Because stories disappear. Not gradually. Suddenly, completely, the moment a person is no longer here to tell them.
A thought worth sitting with

Biography Bound began with grief. The founder lost her father, Brian, a businessman, a tour guide, a grandfather, someone who was funny and full of stories. Not one of those stories was written down. In the process of grieving him, the wish became very clear: someone should have suggested it. Someone should have helped while there was still time.

That is why this business exists. Not to capitalise on the fear of loss, but to offer something real: the chance to capture a life before the window closes. Done well, the process is not sad. It is one of the most meaningful things a family can do together.

What a Personal Memoir gives you
🎁 A gift no one else can give
A professionally written memoir is the most personal gift imaginable. Not bought; built. From conversations, memories, and a life actually lived. Entirely irreplaceable.
🧠 Memory, held still
Details that feel unforgettable now will blur within years. A memoir captures the texture of a life before it softens into impression and impression into nothing.
👨‍👩‍👧 A legacy for generations
Grandchildren who never met a great-grandparent will read this book. The connection it creates across time is something no photograph or family gathering can fully replicate.
📚 Something to hold
There is a particular pleasure in a physical book that no screen has yet replicated. To hold your story in your hands, to feel the weight of it, is its own kind of satisfaction.
